I would like thank all of you for your help. It
was a new location and alot of new things. There were concerns
that there was not enough preparations done for the show. We are just
a committee of four and we try hard. Every year we start with
nothing in the bank. We try to increase the amount we give each
year. This year the new location and the economy didn't help.
I know you will say that Oklahoma and other shows were better, but they also
have more money and volunteers. After this show I felt like giving up
because of the way some folks acted (myself included) Then I
think back and remember my wonderful conversations with our guest speakers.
They came from California, South Texas, and Central Texas and shared their
work with us. We had Louisiana speakers as well who told us
about what was happening in the state. The lights needed work,
but Roger thinks they were out when he was there in 1998. I also want
to recognize the Arklatex Modular club for joining us this year and also the
Ngineers who have been with us since the beginning. We are lucky
to have such local talent as Historian Larry Davis and Master Modeler
Charles Goodrich. The Red River Valley Railroad
Historical Society has also been there for us. They helped take
down and stack tables when my butt was dragging, Thank you Russell and
Paul. We have vendors who come every year who have had a bad
year and may not return. I hope you will. Every year
we start from scratch. This year I am starting planning for the
show now by asking for assistance with Advertising, Media Relations,
and Sponsors. I have tried to do this pretty much with minimal
help every year. Please take the wonderful suggestions,
questions, and comments and help me turn them in reality.
This is a call to action for those who may only have 1hr to give, but can
talk to someone who would like to buy a table or hang a banner.
Maybe your cousin makes movies. A Public Service Announcement would be
great. Did you come across a vendor's website that would be cool
to see here? Send me an email and I will try to get in touch with
them. Every minute helps. In January I start
to work on my Master's Degree. I am not as young as I once was
so my time will be even more precious. Please give us a hand
with next years show. I will be posting things I need help
with on a separate page. If you can help email me and we will
work together to get it done.
Sincerely Yours, Melinda West
